Meet Tony
Tony Mitchell is a husband, father, and resident of the Mozley Park neighborhood in Atlanta’s Westside. In his current role, he serves as the Senior Director of State Government Affairs for Gilead Sciences throughout the Southern Region. A Saint Louis University School of Law graduate, Tony entered the world of politics as a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Intern in the office of Representative Sanford Bishop (GA-2). A policy wonk at heart, Tony is passionate about educating individuals on healthcare disparities, and helping people find their voice through advocacy. Tony is responsible for the lobbying and policy activity across the South on issues including reducing access barriers for vulnerable populations, in addition to creating a destigmatized healthcare landscape for patients who need it most.
A first-generation college graduate, Tony has always been eager to help the next generation of leaders. A former board member of the Emerging 100 of Atlanta, he has spent countless hours mentoring both high school and college students across the City. His passion for nurturing Atlanta’s future is also evident through his service on the board of Ethos Classical, a tuition-free public charter school located in Southwest Atlanta. Named a Rising Young Alumni by his alma mater, McKendree University, Tony received his B.A. in Political Science. He is a proud member of the LEAD Atlanta class of 2022, a 2024 Atlanta Business Chronicle ‘40 under 40’ recipient, and a 2024 initiate of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta.
